Vintage Wedding: Vintage inspired wedding songs...

One of the biggest factors in a wedding is the music played. It has the ability to make people think, make people laugh, make people cry and make people dance.
So when your picking out your wedding dance songs why not think back to the era of romance when music was more then just something that was played on the radio. It was something with depth and meaning...
At my wedding our first dance was Otis Redding these arms of mine. Otis Blue: Otis Redding Sings Soul [Vinyl]That song just has so much passion... And since we arent the best dancers it was also under three minutes so it didnt feel like an eternity as we swivled back in forth. We also went vintage with my two father daughter songs. What a wonderful world and My Girl it was alot of fun and very fitting!

Some great vintage first dance songs are:

Unchained Melody by The Righteous BrothersUnchained Melody: Very Best Of The Righteous Brothers
Hopelessly Devoted To You by Olivia Newton John
Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton
When a Man Loves a Women by Percy SledgeUltimate Collection - When a Man Loves a Woman
We've Only Just Begun by The Carpenters

Some great vintage father daughter dance songs are:

My Girl by The Temptations
What A Wonderful World by Louis ArmstrongDefinitive Collection

Ideas on how to score vintage finds on the cheap.

Vintage Guitar Magazine
Everything I buy is vintage and smells funny. Maybe that's why I don't have a boyfriend.
Lucy Liu

I'm only 24 so I'm def not loaded and I am def on a budget. Good thing you cant buy taste and you dont need alot of money to find cool stuff on a dime! So while I just adore vintage and vintage inspired things sometimes the good stuff is expensive... but dont fret heres some fun, flirty and fabulous tips on how to get it cheaper.

www.estatesales.net
Go here to get emails sent straight to your inbox that alerts you to estate sales in your neighborhood. I usually sign up for a 10 mile perimeter in my area. Estate sales are awesome because its usually cheaper and theres usually alot of really cool stuff in it!

Flea Markets
I think flea markets are def worth the time sometimes you can find some real gems. Especially stuff like vintage barbies and vintage platters... I would recommend making a day out of it and getting there early. If your in the Dayton/ Cincinnati area then Traders world would be a good fit for you. Access there website at
http://www.tradersworldmarket.com/

Thrift stores
Did you know you can take 200.00 worth of product to Goodwill and Salvation Army each and get a tax deduction? I do this every year so I know other people do to. Dont judge a book by its cover and def spend the time checking out your local thriftstores, I would recomend doing this every few weeks for 30 minutes to a hour. This stuff comes and goes pretty fast so stay on top of your game.
Check out the following links to get a thrift store near you.

RE Store
Habitat for humanity has a huge restore where they sell used items that were donated to build houses. The proceeds go to a great cause and you can find all kinds of things. I would say to go often to find the best stuff. They have everythign to dishwashers, appliances, candlesticks, old doors, stairs, and pretty much anything you can imagine.

Just keep in mind that vintage isnt the clothes you wear its how you live and maximize your house with some refashioned pieces that make your home a wonderful piece of art.

Amazon has some cool finds as well and shipping is usually low... I have set up some cool stuff I found on there sight below...

Cocktail Parties with a retro Edge.

"The cocktail party has a simple function in modern society. Its basic purpose is to pay off social debts." Hal Boyle

My husband and I just love to host parties. I always try to get an edge on the other couples by making fabulous dishes and alot of times I look to the past for some retro tastes that are just dying for a comeback.
My bestfriend Betsy and her husband John once came over for an evening of games and her and I spent a good part of the evening just trying to make a Coca Cola cake, it wasnt the prettiest thing but it sure did taste good and gave us a good laugh while we drank wine and baked!
I can now successfully make a pretty coca cola cake, and a great pink champagne cupcakes...

Heres some more fun, flirty and fabulous vintage recipes you should try for your next event...

Swiss Fondue served with cubed bread and veggies, but follow proper ettiquette, no touching the tip of your fondue fork with your mouth and dont drop anything into the fondue. Serve with a nice wine. Heres a great fondue set Trudeau 15-Piece Meat Fondue Set

Fashionable: How to feel luxurious even in pajamas.

In a world wear Victoria Secret Pink sweatpants are taking over... I love for the old school version of sophisticated pajamas....

I had a great pair of cream pajamas, they had been something my grandma had bought and never used.
They were a great cream color and like a silk material. They were a tailored pant that was almost a wide leg with a long sleeved button down blouse.
They were very smart looking and they made me feel very luxurious and sophisticated like I should be writing a book or smoking a cigarette out of a very long cigarette holder.
I think feeling sexy and sophisticated in your pajamas, when your by your self is sometimes a needed  luxury and even having just one pair of smart, vintage inspired pjs is well worth it!
Theres nothing like waking up on a saturday and making breakfast and feeling wonderful. Or if your sick and you still want to feel a touch of attractiveness.
Theres really no feeling like getting into a nice pair of pjs and hanging out or going to bed! It would really give an upscale revival to lounge day!

Fashionable: 70's could be fabulous

When I typically think about vintage things, for some reason I never try to venture much post the 1960's, but we are living in the wonderful 2010's so the 1970s and the 1980s both could be considered older or vintage.
So when I logged onto the wonderful Elle.com today for some much needed fashion advice i was pleased to find that a new trend that is emerging is from the 1970's.

This is a trend I will definatly be using! Im way into nicer fabrics and even fur but only if its truly vintage, if its new then it must be faux.
Why dont we all use this as a little inspiration to become even more outside the box and more fashion forward while looking into the past!

Also, I have a huge obsession with sunglasses, but I always seem to leave them on the roof of my car and then run over them and lose them. so while i love the Tom Ford 70s inspired glasses shown at the top left of this blog, I would much rather spend $5.80 at Forever 21 and buy:
